{"id":2901,"date":"2018-07-21T09:18:11","date_gmt":"2018-07-21T03:48:11","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/atuljha.com\/blog\/?p=2901"},"modified":"2018-07-21T09:18:11","modified_gmt":"2018-07-21T03:48:11","slug":"at-what-cost","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/atuljha.com\/blog\/2018\/07\/21\/at-what-cost\/","title":{"rendered":"At what cost?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Insecurity is a disease that humanity has been suffering since inception, history has it in detail.<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Homo Sapiens killed Neanderthals.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Socrates was made to drink hemlock by Athenians.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Nero burnt down his own kingdom.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There are many more such stories and I will leave them for you to read.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In this post I am talking about our personal insecurity.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Why?<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Co-worker gets foreign transfer and you are sad.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Wife gets fat bonus and you are unhappy.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Friend&#8217;s startup got funded and you are grumpy.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Sister bought a house and you are miserable.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Purpose of our life has become fulfilling bucket lists, being at the top and winning against all the odds. Our society rewards the machiavellian and punishes the stoics.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">But at what cost?<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Antidepressant and anxiety pills.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Alcohol and drugs.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Over consumption of sugar, meat and wheat.
