{"id":680,"date":"2014-06-02T13:06:46","date_gmt":"2014-06-02T07:36:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/atuljha.com\/blog\/?p=680"},"modified":"2014-06-02T23:59:38","modified_gmt":"2014-06-02T18:29:38","slug":"notes-from-nagaland-trip-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/atuljha.com\/blog\/2014\/06\/02\/notes-from-nagaland-trip-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Notes from Nagaland Trip"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I visited <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Nagaland\" target=\"_blank\">Nagaland<\/a>, northeastern state of India this March. \u00a0I visited\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Dimapur_District\" target=\"_blank\">Dimapur<\/a>, \u00a0<a style=\"color: #0b0080;\" title=\"Peren district\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Peren_district\" target=\"_blank\">Peren<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a class=\"mw-redirect\" style=\"color: #0b0080;\" title=\"Mokokchung District\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Mokokchung_District\" target=\"_blank\">Mokokchung<\/a>\u00a0district. \u00a0I have tried to summarize my overall experience in simple notes.<\/p>\n<p>Thanks 2 Achet for inviting me to this trip, am missing all the fun already. \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Pork is a staple food &amp; its common to keep pigs at home along with hens.<\/li>\n<li>Although Indian government has only recognized <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Naga_people\">17 naga tribes <\/a>\u00a0number is much more.<\/li>\n<li>Christianity is dominant in the state &amp; people are god fearing.<\/li>\n<li>English is commonly spoken &amp; medium of education.<\/li>\n<li>Education has special importance &amp; students walk few kilometers daily for schooling.<\/li>\n<li>People are \u00a0humble &amp; happy &amp; well educated.<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0The state has natural resources in abundance but pollution is a major threat.<\/li>\n<li>Bamboos play major role in building houses &amp; handicraft industry is largely dependent on it.<\/li>\n<li>One can easily enter Nagaland via Dimapur but to visit most other districts one needs inner line permit.<\/li>\n<li>If you like reading local folktales then do visit Signet Books, Dimpaur. They have good collection.<\/li>\n<li>Don`t forget to being some green tea from local Nagaland brand named Amonar, its awesome.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em><strong>\u00a0
