It was a frantic ride, crossing Drass, Kargil, snow filled road &amp; rain. I reached Srinagar early morning &amp; got a room right across Dal Lake. Most people are friendly &amp; they know tourists are bread\/butter for them.<\/p>\n<p>I have tried to summarize my overall experience in simple notes.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Dal Lake is more beautiful during winter, although summer is peak tourist season.<\/li>\n<li>Shikara ride is hugely recommended \u00a0&amp; if you want more fun spend a day or two in house boat.<\/li>\n<li>I was not lucky to enjoy Wazwan because none of my local friends were getting married at the time of my visit. \ud83d\ude42<\/li>\n<li>Spend one complete day visiting all the beautiful gardens.<\/li>\n<li>Do visit <span style=\"color: #000000;\">Hazratbal shrine &amp; feed the pigeons, if I remember correctly, you are not allowed to carry your cams.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">An evening walk at Lal Chok is another great way of seeing and meeting locals.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Mughal Darbar at Lal Chok makes excellent kebabs.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Do drink Kahwah<span id=\"8117577f-1c1e-42a3-bcfd-36ff49ce85cf\" class=\"GINGER_SOFTWARE_mark\">[<\/span>local chai] from roadside shop.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">I spent 4-5 hours at Shankaracharya Temple, its a good walk. The temple is very small &amp; easily gets crowded so try visiting early morning.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li>Also, thanks to<a href=\"http:\/\/mirnazim.org\/\" target=\"_blank\"> <span id=\"80162525-71ac-4f23-98a4-aeb6e306c463\" class=\"GINGER_SOFTWARE_mark\">Mir<\/span> Nazim<\/a> &amp; <a href=\"http:\/\/ikraftsoft.com\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span id=\"de7ff89b-0579-4e63-b12f-c8495f8b89a8\" class=\"GINGER_SOFTWARE_mark\">iKraft<\/span><\/a>\u00a0team for Gulmurg trip I was unlucky so could not enjoy <span id=\"3501ba5e-ae9a-4ec0-8adc-bc9af1cfb62f\" class=\"GINGER_SOFTWARE_mark\">Gandola<\/span> Ride. Although I enjoyed the whole trip. \ud83d\ude42<\/li>\n<li>Last not the least you can either take flight, train from Delhi\u00a0to reach Srinagar or like me take state roadways
